Why does it take a $50000 grant to get the cops to enforce a law? Waste of our money and I mean our money!! The Taxpayer!!

"..thanks to a $50,000 federal grant." Ahh.. $50k in overtime for the cops before the fishing opener, paid for by you. Tickets revenue for the cities. A perception of proactive public safety for a day. Life is good.

No message or email is worth dying over or causing someone else harm. It's safest to just pull over, when possible.

Just legalize marijuana already and have the federal govt sell it. Debt problem solved.

Let me get this straight... it's not okay to enter an address on my phone's navigation software, but it IS okay for people to use their GPS devices that are suction-cupped to their windshields? Moronic. You can't stop people from using their cell phones. What should instead be enforced is DISTRACTED driving. If a cop sees someone not paying attention to the road and driving dangerously, then give them a citation. If they are on their phone talking and driving well, then leave them alone. I hate how incompetent people ruin for others. And for gods sake, clarify the law. You aren't going to stop anyone from using their phones as navigation devices when other people who have dedicated navi devices are using them willy-nilly on the highway, not getting ticketed.

Cops don't focus their efforts here because the ticket fees are not as lucrative as DUI's. However studies have shown that distracted drivers can be just as dangerous as a drunken one. If the police prioritized PUBLIC SAFETY vs. revenue dollars, they would equally enforce distracted and drunk drivers.

You can't suction-cup your GPS to the windshield in MN. My GPS sits on a little sandbag-type stand on the dash (which makes it portable for rental cars, etc.) You have to have the car stopped for it to allow entering an address -- data entry doesn't work when the car is moving. It announces upcoming turns well in advance, including naming the street or exit to take. It has proven itself as a safety enhancement, keeping me where I need to be going in a strange city.
