CLAIBORNE !!! Watching film on him shows that he is not colorblind and thats all that counts at that position. We would have been 4-1 with a secondary. Our pass rush would look a lot more effective if the QB had to hold on to the ball longer because no receiver was open !!!

Draft Janoris Jenkins and then hire a couple of guys to shadow Jenkins and Chris Cook. The Vikings cornerback situation would suddenly be respectable.

Drafting Claiborne means we're not drafting Kalil and that would be a huge mistake.

JUST BECAUSE WE MIGHT NOT DRAFT KALIL DOES NOT MEAN IT WOULD BE A HUGE MISTAKE WE NEED PLAYERS AT THE SKILL POSITIONS WR DB. WE COULD ALWAYS DRAFT A O-LINEMAN IN THE LATER ROUNDS.

No mention of Stefon Gilmore? My understanding is that he's a great late first/early second type corner. If the Vikes drafted him and moved Winfield to Safety, that would do a lot to improve the secondary.

It appears that Kalil will be a stud. However, I think its generally easier to help an average to below average LT (by chipping with a tight end etc.) than it is to help a below average corner. Looking specifically at the Vikes last season, both O line and D backs looked poor, but I think the D backs looked worse. Not saying we should absolutely draft Claiborne, just pointing out that a blue chip athlete at CB might have a greater impact than a blue chip at LT.

Mark Barron Of Alabama would be my choice. But, unless the Vikings trade back into the mid to mid-late area of the first round, he won't be available. As another poster noted, Gilmore is an outstanding prospect, and should have been mentioned in the article. Another guy not mentioned is Trumaine Johnson from Montana. Johnson's a guy that could project to Safety in the NFL. Very talente, coachable, and has good heighth. All intangibles the Vikings are looking for. Johnson is a guy that may be available at pick #35.

The guy you get in about round 4 or 5 is Omar Bolden out of Arizona State. Coming off a knee injury, but 2 years ago this guy was one of the top corners in the country.
