"Pairing Ponder and Kalil together now could allow them a decade or more to grow together." It better not take them no ten years "to grow"! Furthermore, unless Kalil signs a ten-year contract (which NFL labor agreements prohibit on a rookie contract) who said the born-and-raised California-native, Kalil, would sign another contract with the Vikings after four years? Especially when considering that his beauty-pageant girlfriend tweeted that she doesn't want him to be drafted by either Minnesota or Cleveland (cold-weather thing, no doubt).

If they stay at #3 in the first round I don't know who else is worth that high of a pick other than Kalil. After the Vikes take one good left tackle somewhere in the draft there is little point to use any other draft picks on offensive linemen. There are much bigger needs on other parts of this team after getting a good LT. In other words, drafting Kalil could be a simple approach to addressing the entire offensive line.

You forgot the kid from OSU.

I don't know why you'd have to keep other teams guessing when the only two picks before yours are done. Nows not the time to outsmart yourself. I have so little faith in Spielman that I wouldn't be surprised if he actually does feel that way. You need to protect the kid before you get him more toys, because when a young qb developes happy feet it's pretty hard to get them back, and we could see the start of that towards the end of last year with Ponder. ///// As far as Kalil possibly not re-signing with the team after his first contract's up. With the franchise tag(fair or not)I believe that players are pretty much stuck with their teams as long as the team wants them. Especially at a position like LT.

Kalil might be the safest pick at #3, but considering we have so many needs. Who thinks, Riley Reiff is a LT worth considering, if we trade down for extra picks? l have to admit, I don't know how much better Kalil is then Reiff? If LT is our first priority, is Reiff worth considering, if we can get trade value for the 3rd pick? Look forward to reading your comments.
