Excellent attitude! I hope he does get to play, but either way, he sounds like a winner.

I heard about a guy who did the same thing in college, went from 7th string QB to flanker. He led the team in receptions, TD, & yds for 3 yrs. A great team player helps the team win vs. helping himself.

With his size, he could be a huge help to this team. Had they kept Gary at receiver last year and Shortel at QB, 2 more positions could have been better this year.

Too bad about losing his skills at QB... if it weren't for the biases as to size for QBs, given the arm and his experience and smarts, he would do well at QB, especially in the pocket... Looks like Kill is not at all confident in his offensive line if he is picking QBs based on mobility rather than on running an offense and passing... Think Joe Kapp and Superbowls - a lot of DEs and DTs wished he would have been smaller and he didn't have that kind of arm. Oh, and a 270 lb QB doing a QB sneak in college? What do you stack the box with? Bring in all your reserve OTs as linebackers? Not very creative of coach Kill. Oh, well, more careful MN football again this season...

.. amazing how a little punctuation changes a meaning "Think Joe Kapp and Superbowls - a lot of DEs and DTs wished he would have been smaller -- and he didn't have Alipate's kind of arm."

Will there be a TE bomb to the end-zone this season? I hope they got that in their play-book! It would be an awesome way to score!

290 may be too big to be an effective TE. At this point, he may project better as an athletic LT vs. a slow TE.

@twagner - depends on the package - TE stayed in a lot to block last year. He's pretty mobile for his size.

Joe Kapp? He was 6 '2" and 215 pounds. You cite him as an example of a big QB? That's quite funny!!! Wow!

What an impressive student / athlete! With someone his caliber on the team, I'm proud to be a Gopher fan.
