I think almost everyone agrees that texting while driving is bad. What about talking on a cell phone? Probably not quite as bad. What about applying makeup? Shaving? Eating? All interfere at least somewhat with driving. How do we decide where to draw the line?

It's about time. I'm starting to think DD should stand for Distracted Driver, not Drunk Driver. I'd rather be on the road at 3am these days as opposed to 3pm when school lets out.

Just do the HANDS FREE law and get it over with. It's so STUPID a state with our weather and road conditions doesn't already have that law.

Im sorry officer, I didn't know how fast I was going. If I would have looked down at the spedo..I could have been pulled over for distracted driving

Cops use laptops, cell phones and radios often more than one at a time and while driving but apparently their genetic make up is such that they can still be 100% attentive when driving.

LOL @ the picture of a flip phone. Apparently the man has to text someone in 2003.

The law should be extended for ALL cell phone use and doubled if driving in the PASSING lane not going posted limit or minimum. All drivers should pay attention to how many drivers are on their cell phones. I think the numbers HUGE.

Must be a lot of "young" drivers giving their "2 cents worth" here. I can tell that by the lack of common sense and sense of entitlement being displayed by the comments I'm seeing. Goes to show that we need to raise the legal driving limit to at least 21. If we could all see the type of horrible deaths on the roads that our state troopers have to witness as part of their jobs, we wouldn't need to be reminded of these things at the cost of a traffic ticket nor would we be questioning their use of laptops etc etc while on the job.

From what I've seen on the road lately, the cops are going to be very busy. You can pretty much guarantee that if someone is holding up traffic or cutting people off and not signaling that they are on their phone.
