one of the biggest mistakes in Gopher sports history is to keep running the water boy out on the Gopher baseball field. Anderson has done nothing and I mean nothing in his time as a big ten coach. Why, do they just keep giving this guy big money to be average. I have lost all respect for Gopher sports until they hire a decent AD.

Sid, amazingly, we agree: John Anderson is very deserving of his new contract. Gopher athletics haven't exactly inspired us alumni in the past few years, but Anderson is the exception: a fine coach who regularly makes the Gophers relevant despite coaching at a non-baseball school. Congrats; keep up the good work.

I guess this is OK. A 31 year government employee (yes, U personnel are definitely government as are all public school employees) with a guaranteed 5 year contract for $204,000 which will be paid even if Coach is fired. Best coach anywhere, Sid says, but paid only third highest in Big Ten (A bargain?) I wonder what they pay in Florida, Texas, Arizona and California. That's a sweet deal for any private sector employee but it is less than Obama's $250,000 cutoff between "good" (less pay) workers and those "bad, bad, bad" (more pay) workers we all want our children and grandchildren to grow up to be (so they can pay back the U's student loans). Come to think of it, Sid never did say if Coach got the extra pay guarantee for camps and other side gigs. Maybe Coach is over the $250,000. In the end, this is OK. Coach has done well for a long time. I wish him and the Team further success in the future.

Why can the Gophers Hockey program THINK they can win a National Championship WITH MINNESOTA KIDS ONLY. Look at this, the Gophers have 2 recruits that each scored 1 goal and 6 assists while another recruit has 6 goals and more assists. I would guess the later guy lives out state. Why do we in MN feel we are SO SUPERIOR in hockey that we will only try and get MN guys. Think about this; Look what happened to MN in the final four this year. If MN looked to attract ONLY THE BEST PLAYERS AVAILABLE we probably would have won the title. I think some of the Gophers Coaches have their heads shoved up their a----. Just win baby!
