On campus beat: Union backers allege U violation

I know the aguements about Unions. I've heard it all over the 40 years plus of working for a living. But I'm glad I was a Union man most of my life. The Union is an employees legal and stead-fast representive. Without the Union most employees are at the mercy of there employer. Unions also set the pay scale for nearly all employees. So without the Union you'd probably be getting 1/3rd of what you should be getting. Fifty years ago if you weren't a Union worker, you were getting half as much as a Union emlpoyee. Most non-Union workers had no hospitalization, half the holidays off, and only half the wagers. Without the Unions there would be even more unemployed pay checks each week.

What, the union is not suing over making students show their ID's. They couldn't stack the deck with their shills! You have failed 4 times, give it up. No revenue stream at the U.

I'm a little late to comment on this, but what exactly does this particular union have to do with weekends or what other unions or unions in general have done? This particular union demonstrated contempt for the very people they were attempting to legally represent. They entered secure areas such as offices and labs containing dangerous materials and equipment and relentlessly called office/lab/personal phones, interrupting work and bothering people at home. They misled countless graduate students and created serious distrust toward their motives. We proudly and strongly voted against this union. Unions can be tremendous forces of good. The GSWU-UAW, to us, clearly was not.
