Wild crashed after early success

GM Chuck Fletcher's big offseason moves worked well for a while. But the Wild ended up where it had been the previous three seasons -- out of the playoffs.

I don't think that Fletch has proven himself enough to give him an extension. Yes, they were plagued by injuries by a few key players but the meltdown this year was catastrophic. Give him one more year and if things don't improve bring in a seasoned GM. A rookie GM and two rookie coaches hasn't worked well so far.

elmore1.. Did you even read the article? Shows how much you know about hockey there with that comment.. Meaning pretty much nothing.

Should have never hired Yeo when Hitchcock was available.

Radek Faksa may be the draft pick this year and he sounds like a quality player. I wonder why Fletcher would talk about making a trade with prospects this off season when he wouldn't back in December when this season was still looking good. Another year like this and I'll be looking for another team.

hockeyguy07, yeah I read the article and have followed the North Stars and Wild since day 1. I have coached and played hockey (high school, college, Srs) for 40 years. My comments stand. What are your credentials?

back off hockeyguy07...this old man knows hockey...and did you even follow the Stars? How far along were the North Stars in year 11? Bet they went to more playoffs...bottom line...get dmen who can create scoring chances and score...and aren't afraid to shoot on the PP..and get some size back there for pitty sakes.

Why does it have to be such a marathon to figure out if the Wild game is on TV? Seriously, how hard can we make this? It is on TV, but it's not? Years ago, you could go through all the channels and eventually you might find the game... But now days, thanks to technology I could hardly care about, there are over a thousand channels to go through... If the game is on TV FS-N (HD) that probably means something to someone, but what good does that information do if you can't narrow it down to one of the 1,000's channels... Years ago, it took 1 minute to figure out where everything was by looking in the paper, now days with the internet and the latest technology it takes forever...

lindy_frank123, how about those North Stars! Can you believe that they almost went to the Stanley Cup in their very first season! Pretty amazing, if only we could have got past the Blues in that last game!

I don't mind some more rebuilding. I don't mind being without an NHL superstar (no, I don't think Koivu is it). What I DO mind is when the team completely fails to show up for 20 minutes at a time. Who cares how much talent is out there if it doesn't show on the ice?

Waht is the big deal here? The Wild have a well established tradition of starting fast, playing way over their heads, then playing well enough to miss the playoffs once again and then playing well again after they ahve been eliminated from the playoffs. I mean, they have that strategy down to a fine science so what is the big deal?
