and Maturi had no role in bringing back Guentzel as a prerequisite to Don's contract extension? hmmmmm. Egos are bought and paid for.

I personally don't care how or why he came back...I am just happy he came back! The guy is solid, and not afraid to get these boys heads screwed on tight when needed. Thanks, Mike, and welcome home.

meganmax well said! Who cares about the past? The good news is this program is right back where it belongs!

It is no coincidence that when the Gophers brought back Mike "Mallard" Guentzel that this thing turned around. The players respect him and like playing for him. That was not the case when he was gone. The players have his back because he treats them with respect unlike Lucia who's ego can get rather arrogant. Mallard is a Gopher loyal alum and always will bleed Maroon and Gold. Hopefully the best is yet to come.

Can't wait to see Guentzel take over the program someday. The Don is out of touch with the players.

The "program" is flying home Friday and Bugs is on a different flight to his new NHL home. BC 5 - 1

"IF" the Gophers actually win it all--does this mean Gopher students can trash, set fires, and smash windows in Dinkytown again?

Too bad Don didn't win the 2012 Spencer Penrose Awardd for the smart re-structuring of his staff, allowing Guentzel to accomplish all the things he did this year. Ferris State coach Bob Daniels was named the 2012 Spencer Penrose Award winner as the Division I men's ice hockey coach of the year.
