Gardenhire sees 'super utility' role for Plouffe

Trevor Plouffe's role seems to have morphed with Justin Morneau now serving as a full-time DH.

Does Gardenhire think that he is in charge of the local boy scout troup? Plouffy, Morny, Joey, Scotty...What childish name is he going to come up with for Liam? I think he spends entirely too much time worrying about coming up with kid names for these players and not enough time actually looking to create a batting order that matches up well with the opposing team.

Burroughs tweaked his back getting off the bus? OMG. I just returned from a week at WDW in Orlando; got on and off lots of buses without any problems, and I'm 66. What are these guys made of? Also, I would much rather have Nick Punto in the super utility role than Plouffe.

The fact is that the Twins really like players that are willing to play any position as substitutes. Back in 1987 with Randy Bush, and Cuddyer the last few years and several in between. Those players that work to become solid with defense and also can hit then really get to shine when given a full-time shot. Rip Gardy all you want, a versatile player who can play multiple positions fairly well means that the team can carry more short innings pitchers, and with several suspect starters, that is not a bad position to operate from.

Plouffy as super utility? That's funny. Plouffy just lost his rightfield job, but he never really had it, because Gardy was never going to give it to him.....Doumit will play a lot of rightfield? No way. That's even more funny. Doumit lost his job when Mourneau decided to DH. Gardy is trying to keep everyone happy, but rightfield was decided a long time ago. I know Gardy and he's going with Ben. Way to go, Gardy. Ben is the man. Thanks for the comedy routine as well. You are funny. Plouffy and Doumitty are on the bench, and you made it funny. Ha ha.
