This is truly a dumb idea! Does anyone in their right mind think that fireworks will not end up in the hands of youth. My grandson was burned by fireworks being set off by an adult who was suppose to be responsible. He and his cousin both received burns. I can only imagine the burns and eye injuries that will happen because of this bill. Amazing that our so called leaders choose to spend time and energy on something like this rather than address the real concerns of Minnesotans. What a disapointment!

We should probably outlaw bikes, matches, cooking stoves, cars, power tools, ice skating............... We really aren't capable of assuming any responsibility.

"It just kind of dawned on me, OK, the sparklers and stuff are legal," he said. "But the ones the dad just shot off, those are illegal. Is he a bad guy? No -- these are something that are a part of our tradition. Why should we let all this money go to Wisconsin?" Maybe the legislature can use this logic to repeal Sunday liquor laws while they're at it? Naw, that would be too tough.

I sure hope that Gov. Dayton will be looking at this bill if passed. Isn't that his job??

Losing an eye is nothing compared to being shot. Legalize fireworks, kill gang members.

Whoa what?!? The recent articles I've read talk about how the GOP led legislature is focusing on jobs and breaking quick for recess even if the bonding bill isn't done. You mean they're busy debating over fireworks instead?!? Nov 2012 can't come too soon...

Everyone else around us sells them. They are going off all over the metro. Stop letting the states around us get all the revenue from this.

Jobs???? The deficit???? Hello????? Now fireworks are the most important thing for the legislature? We are paying them for fireworks laws? This is the pressing priority for MN?? What a pathetic group of clowns. November please hurry and get here!

The House and Senate refuse to let consumers buy beer on a huge weekend shopping day(Sunday). Now of course they will not allow us to choose to buy fireworks. Just another thing the Twin Cities just makes a stop for in Wisconsin and they sure enjoy the tax revenue. Prohibition prevents nothing.

more "laser focus on jobs" can't wait for November so we can show these folks the door.
