Everything looks positive eacept that Smith would still be coaching. That means no offensive plays, no ability to inbound under pressure, and no adjustments at the end of games to prevent a collapse. Other than those minor problems, everything will be great,

Via Sid, Gopher coaches are always optimistic about next year. Then next year comes and it's the same refrain - and has been for decades.

The master of understatement -"The Gophers traveled 9,330 miles in playing five NIT games, the first three on the road at Philadelphia (La Salle), Miami and Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Middle Tennessee State), before playing the final two in New York. It’s possible the team was a little worn out when it came to the Stanford game..." FWIW - You missed the two Big Ten tourney games away and the last game of the regular season away... they have almost enough FF miles in two months to spring break in Hawaii.

Last I checked, Stanford is pretty far from New York.

It was a nice Gopher run but, Stanford wouldn't let the Gophs drive the basket and get easy dunks. They had no outside scoring and the team became frustrated and careless. The NIT was good for them, because without outside scoring, it would have been one and done in the NCAA.

"It’s possible the team was a little worn out when it came to the Stanford game, as the Gophers collapsed after playing so well up to that point." It's also possible that Stanford was fatigued as well Sid...but they wanted IT worse than the Gophers. Smith and staff had no answers. The results of the game says it all!

Did they have to drive those 9330 miles? Jets go alot faster so they would have more time to rest.

Any way you spin it Sid one thing is for sure. Tubby has been a HUGE failure as coach of the Gophers.

SMITH AND HIS STAFF CAN SPEND THE SUMMER APOLIGIZING TO WELCH FOR CHANGING HIS SHOOTING MECHANICS EARLY THIS YEAR AND ENDING HIS CAREER. ELIASON'S NEW SHOT IS SO BAD HE REFUSED TO TAKE ANY OPEN SHOTS IN THE NIT. RODNEY'S SHOT WAS BETTER AS A FRESHMEN. WHO IS NEXT.
