Just sell beer everywhere in the stadium, the money would be worth it. Underage people at the game are either already drunk or snuk in their own beer.
Is having a beer garden really making it available to Joe Public? I would love to have a beer at the game but I also want to see the game, that's kind of the point.
Maybe if it is set up in the open end zone.
Why this has ever been a question is beyond me. Adults need permission to do something legal and acceptable? Odd. It's embarassing that we need a legislative session to address this issue.
Sounds like basketball and hockey supporters are 2nd rate fans compared to football. O.K....then lower the ticket prices for that "2nd rate" element.
A couple of Golden Grain Belts while watching the Golden Gophers will certainly help to alleviate the Stadium Butt these tired old bones of mine get! Skol Gophers!
Im not sure since I didn't go there, but Im pretty sure its "Ski-U-Mah" not "Skol-". You'd think the Minneapolis newspaper would know that...
I think I will still stick with my couple beers over at the MAC before the game. If one tries for a few beers in the "Beer Garden" how much of the game will you see about maybe a quarter or 2? I know a few of the people around me will be in there at least I will have more rooom around me now then in my seats.
@cantstandya - You're correct on the "Ski-U-Mah". The article title contains a pun. The word 'Skol' is a scandinavian word that can be loosely translated as "Cheers" and is commonly used when you clink your beer glasses. :-)
All this worry about underage drinking? First of all, the kids will sneak it in, or binge drink before hand. Second, college kids don't have $8 for a beer. Third, less than 10% of the attending fans are students. It's a step, albeit a bit more sideways than forwards.
This compromise works for me. My only hope is that it doesn't take 20 minutes to get one of those beers they are selling...can't predict the garden's popularity. I guess adjustments will be made, just like the gate fiasco during the first season.
