The GOP-backed $496 million bonding plan has no funds for Nicollet Mall, light rail or St. Paul ballpark.

So, the GOP is ignoring the people that the money comes from?! They are as clueless as I thought. Another nail in their election coffin, as far as I can see.

While you can argue about the size of the bonding bill, this is further proof that the Twin Cities metro area should seceed from the rest of the state. The money and the muscle come out of the 14th largest metropolitan area, not Brainerd, Mankato, or Willmar. With out Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the suburbs, this state is East Dakota, North Iowa, or West Sconi.

None of these projects is a high priority, certainly from the state's perspective. Nothing political about that.

Retaliatory Republicans are at it once again. They have no idea how to represent all the people - only their narrow, narrow interests. Vote them out in November and vote NO on all their Big Government amendments.

That's right. Cut LGA and only spend money in your bonding bill in areas that you have the slightest chances of getting re-elected. It's nice to see politics working as intended.

Come on everyone, of course the GOP didn't take revenge on the DFLers on the ethics committee. They wouldn't do that. They went after ALL DFLers! Doesn't Veeck know he was supposed to move the Saints to a Republican district? Amazing how Republicans consistently first complain they can't get votes in DFL areas, and then show the voters why they were right not to vote Republican.

It sounds like a redistribution of wealth to me.

And the metro will not get a ballpark either...

Really? A $7m dolphin tank instead development money that would have encouraged private investment? There better be, like, 173 1/2 dolphins in that tank, because I'm going to want to see something amazing for that money.

This is truly sad. With interest rates near zero, this is the best possible time to fix our infrastructure. Debt is NOT a bad thing when we are building for the future. Yet the GOP is so eager to destroy government that they are willing to use the public purse only for payback to their supporters.

When a political party decides that even the "other" people in their own state are the enemy, they are attacking the very bonds that hold us together as one people.

Minnesota pays more taxes than they get back from the feds, and the metro area pays most of the state taxes. The GOP is acting like a schoolyard bully, demanding lunch money from the weaker kids.
