Morneau: Being DH is protection from concussion symptoms

The slugger said he is at risk when he wears down, and it appears not playing in the field reduces that risk.

Would be interesting to watch how a committee works out at 1B. As usual, T Ryan talks sense, no BS, and keeps the real world sqauarely in view. Good luck to all and...PLAY BALL!

Every few years we, as Minnesota fans at whatever sport you shall choose, are introduced to a form of a potential superstar whether it be Fran Tarkenton, Kirby Puckett, Kevin Love, or a Hometown Joe Mauer. But in the last decade, we have found a sensational player behind Justin Morneau, for whom the Twins as a small market team developed and established as a true superstar. He has since had Health problems, the most serious of the brain and he has since been cleared to resume his career. LET HIM PLAY in the capacity that he is fully capable of which is in the field and behind the bat. We want to watch him play the game he loves, the town he has fallen in love with and for the fans that love him....GIVE HIM A CHANCE to play everyday in the field, he will then show us more than any doctor will, how he can come back to the true, responsive power he is, not was, IS!!!! Let him Play!!!

I am getting sick of Morneau and all the excuses. Either retire or play. The way he's played the last year I say give it up! It's all in his head and I don't think it's the concussion of which I speak.

sounds like an easy way to get mauer out from behind the plate. maybe they'll finally get a catcher than can call a game.

14 mil a year to DH? Where's the logic there? If you aren't able to produce it's time to start looking at the future here. The Twins need to figure out a way to get Parmelee some quality at bats,he's the future at first.

I'd love to see Justin hang around. Attitude and effort has never been questioned. Not that the Pohlads need the money, but it would be nice to see some of that go to helping the team in other areas. How about a contract restructure?

We need him at the plate. Let someone else play first. Wouldn't Cuddy look good there now?

If Morneau is the DH that may allow Parmelee to make the team and having more power is a good thing! If Moreau is DH for the rest of his career and it prevents another concussion, that is a great thing! When he is on, he is one of the best hitters in the game. How can anyone criticize the Twins for being careful and trying to maximize his at bats?

Damaged goods and an accident waiting to happen. This will be the FOURTH season in a row where the guy ends the season on the DL. You gotta dump him and his salary before he breaks down A-G-A-I-N !!! Cannot believe that Mauer is considered to be the "glassman" superstar on this team.

Fingers crossed, but its appearing DHing agrees with Morneau. Its essential we have Morneau swinging a good bat in the middle of our lineup. DH is the answer right now. Hopefully, at some point Justin can return to first base. One goofd thing about this development is Parmelee probably makes this team at the expense of Revere or Plouffe. But most likely Revere. Nothing personal against Revere or Plouffe, but Parmelee is a better hitter. An inclusion of Parmelee in our lineup gives us a formidable offense. Doumit or Parmelee hitting eighth? No rest for opposing hurlers vs. the Twins this year. Go Twins!
