Will Wild go for No. 1 pick? Yeo doesn't think like that

The team with the most points in the NHL as late as Dec. 17 has a bona fide shot at finishing with the second-fewest points in the NHL.

Alright alright alright, we won't go for the 1st overall pick just to make you happy Yeo (and because it's mathematically impossible unless we win the lottery pick). We'll go for 2nd overall!!!

Let's get the @2 and Mikhael Grigorenko already.

I think regardless of what the wild get for a pick they should trade down, they are in far more need of SOLID defensemen, and they could get easily get 2 for one. the Wild are stacked for goaltending and with the crop of prospects they have and forwards under contract for 2+ seasons they dont have room for a 1-3 draft pick. Have been very happy with the S & S boys, Gilbert and Stoner and eventhough i like Foster alot I just dont see him here next year, We NEED a Dman that can truely play the consistent game and is truely capable of 40+ pts

I dont understand where just having fun and maybe working on some new things the last seven games would make the Wild a team that quits? They havent quit all year! Why wouldnt you try and get as high of a pick as you can? You cant tell me grabbing the #2 pick, a sniper who can play next year, wouldnt help the Wild for YEARS to come? Yeo must think he has a group of pretty soft guys to think not playing to win the last handful of games will start a paridigm for quiting and losing for the Wild, doesnt make sense.

The article could say that a 2nd overall draft pick would the highest draft pick the Wild have ever received in its history, what is funny about that is that they were an expansion team. I am not a fan of how Uncle Leo has run the team down hill at pretty much the same times every year, this year was earlier and that is why they can pick lower. I said at the beginning of this year that the Wild would just tease the fans early being in contention of a playoff spot and then drop off, I also explained how you would make that happen, stick players in line up for other injured players that don't know what there doing defensively, basically running try-outs AND sticking a player in on defense that is not buying in and un-motivated to play like Marek Zidlicky, folks he has lost the Wild more points this year, my goodness and they just kept playing him...... hehehhehehehe

I'm glad Yeo doesn't want to go for a better draft pick, he totally thinks this team is ready for the playoffs with just a little coaching. I agree with him! Let's just stick to the same thing we have for the past 5 years or so and keep trying to make these players into champions! We don't need a first or second round pick- that's for teams who can't score. THe WIld just needs some coaching! I just threw up on myself.

I don't expect Yeo to come out and say we're going to tank the rest of the year, but I sure hope that he's thinking it. Truthfully I don't think it matters what the intention is, this team is so bad we'll definitely finish bottom 5.

jpweisserMar. 26, 1210:09 AM

we need to maintain a bottom 5 finish to be eligible for the lottery. I believe it's the worst 5 teams that have a lottery for the first overall pick. Here's hoping for the best.......of the worst.

The thing is - it is next year when the #1 pick will be the huge prize. Hoping Fletcher can pool enough assets (picks, prospects) to possibly make a trade to get #1 overall. (Hope it won't be because of the worst record.)

I hope that no coach would be trying to lose this or any time of year. They will get a very good player inside the top 5 imo. Speaking of prospects, any word on JT Brown? Do the Wild have a chance or is he going to Tampa Bay?
