At 60, I discovered a gift for free style and Latin dancing. Within a few months, I'd lost 35 pounds without dieting. I'm now 68 and have long since been tagged with the name "The Dancing Grandma" and have an ever-expanding fan club in the western suburbs. I even danced through weeks of chemo/radiation for esophageal cancer two years ago. I had a pic line attached to a chemo pump around my waist, but nothing was going to stop me from dancing every week end! I'm now a fit size 0 and have never felt better. Motown is my passion. Last March, I took a week long cruise and got 3,000 people dancing as well as won the big dance contest! They say that the three quickest (not to mention safest) paths to human joy are: singing, laughing, and dancing. I truly believe that there's an "inner dancer" in each of us just waiting to manifest!

I had the pleasure to meet Karen on a plane between Minneapolis and Seattle in June as she was getting ready to head to Portland, another stop on her "dancing around the world" journey. I am also a dancer and we went swing dancing Century Ballroom in Seattle. I finally found her article today and am reminded again that it's time to get busy living. Thanks, Karen!
