""the study ranks Minnesota near the bottom of the nation in increasing the number of women-owned companies over the last 15 years""

OK... How does that compare to the number of men starting businesses in Minnesota over the last 15 years??

This author is taking few selected facts, crafting them, and then trying to create a sexist issue with them...

It appears that the issue is that Minnesota has a terrible business climate for anyone who wants to start a new business.. both men and women...

If this author cannot correlate all facts into a logical conclusion, then he should be banned from posting any articles...

This article gets an "F" for its statistics. There are no comparisons with business start-ups in general or businesses started by men. Is the difference a little or a lot? Has it stayed the same difference over time? As fuel for gender resentment though the article gets an "A".

Thanks to WomenVenture for giving people like Janet the opportunity to start their own business. Janet has worked feverishly to get and keep the CMS going. She is dedicated and committed and the community benefits in a big way.

I attended the guitar class the first year it was open, and it was awesome. She was also involved in my sunday school back in the 90s, and she did an awesome job there too. It's great to see some recognition!

I point this out but I think men and women both have had a tough time starting new businesses in the past 5-years.

"...no one wanted to trust that I had what it took to get a store open until I had the business plan done and finances secured." ??-I don't think that needing to have these necessary thing completed before you start a business venture has anything to with her being a woman.. I agree with the other posters, this article is a fail to try to make this a woman thing....it is a NATION thing.
