I'm pleased to see Smith finally acknowledge what I've commented on several times in articles on Gopher basketball: his entertaining other coaching jobs over the years can and probably did hurt recruiting. I hope that for as long as he is the coach at Minnesota he'll remain publicly committed to his team and their fans.

Why is this even being talked about? He has a signed contract... Doesn't that mean anything anymore?

At first I found it humorous that people want a different coach, now its just to the point of annoyance. WHO DO YOU THINK WE CAN GET HERE THAT IS BETTER THEN TUBBY???? FLIP??? Give me a break. Lets just keep changing coaches every four years like the football team, thats been a good recipe for success hasn't it??? I can't stand the MN fan base.

I couldn't agree more with farnorthfan. The Gophs are 22-14 this year w/out Mbakwe. The last time they won 23 games was in 1986 if you don't count the final four run. It is absolutely foolish to try and run Tubby out of town. Foolishness. Also, if Flip is so good at turning around programs, why isn't he still coaching?

Imagine if Mbakwe had not injured his knee early this season. Tubby can recruit and is proving his team can dance in the post-season! I loved hearing him say he's is ours - a great Minnesotan. It's great for the Golden Gopher Basketball program, helps recruiting and alumni support. Let's get the practice facility built and shared by the mens and women's teams.

Hey farnorthfan; The trouble with these Tubby haters is they just don't get out enough. Enjoy the run and forget those people.
