Reusse: Twins prospects aren't ready yet, but ...

The Twins' farm system isn't as barren as once believed, with some talent knocking on the majors' door.

A couple of points: hopefully the Twins coaching doesn't wreck Sano by making him "slap the other way" as they so often do. Delmon and Hardy leave and are raking the ball. No shocker there, a real hitting coach knows how to work with players on their talents instead of making everyone fit into some goofy ideal. The day Bruno becomes the Twins hitting coach and Vavra is canned will be a good one for the Twins. Other point-the Twins are cheap and make players almost waste away in the minors before starting their ML service time. The guys in the article are 24, 25 mostly and should be playing in the majors everyday especially considering Morneau is done, Parmalee can play there and Dozier should be starting at short over the non hitting poor range over the hill Carroll, Hughes should be starting over the dimwitted Casilla, Benson should be playing over the noodle armed, no power Revere, and Hermann should be third catcher over the most worthless player in the majors, Butera.

"Hendriks has a limited fastball, like Radke, but also can change speeds on the fastball, mix pitches and work the corners." So, in other words, he'll fit right in and nobody will be able to tell the difference between him and all the other starters.

Any prospect of brighter fans, Patrick?

@celticviking...couldn't agree more...slap hitting is not power hitting..Twins haven't had a hitting coach since Crowley...Yes, Brunasky would be great but why hasn't Rod Carew ever been hired? Or even Tony O? Unexcusable.

For Terry Ryan to say the cupboard isn't bare because he names about 3 or 4 guys that may have MLB potential just tells me he needs a reality check. The real reality of the situation is about a third of the MLB roster for the Twins would still be in the minors in just about every other organization. The Twins have not drafted well, nor have they developed players as well as many organizations. We are still paying the price for the Billy Smith debacle. Ryan would do well to just state this team will attempt to be competitive...and beyond that would be insanity. Spring training is also suppose to be an audition time for new talent and honing of skills for proven veterans, the Twins would do well to use the time to evaluate their manager and pitching coach and not just keep offering tenure.

Where is the BIG power hitter??????? Is Parmelee the only one with some potential??? Benson may hit a few.....this team needs some big threats coming to the plate.....

If the compitition is Revere against Plouffe for LF, Revere will play most of the time if they are smart about it. Plouffe K's way too often and doesn't hit enough HR's to justify the K rate. Rereve has a better Eye/bat (Minor League, spring and last years stats verify this) He steals basses better than any other Twin, and on top of that he is a way better fielder than Plouffe. If anything Benson should be the guy pushing Revere for the LF spot but he's more suited for CF and would be a waste to sit the bench so he'll probably be at AAA

I realize that free agency isn't a sure thing, but it sure would be fun if the Twins got a legitimate star player in free agency and plunked him into a position as a lock to be an every day contributor. I'm tired of the guys who might come back from an injury or might have another year in the tank.

Agree wholeheartedly with *meegwich* and *orchard1049* In my humbled opinion Ryan has done basically nothing to improve this team going into the season and actually may have taken a step backwards by again relying on Anderson and Gardenhire to make any kind of difference. In any other organization heads would have rolled over the performance of the team last season...Not the Twins. Demote Billy-Bob but keep him on the payroll...what a statement to send...what a crock...Gardenhire pretty much used up all the injury excuses last season...wonder what the new one for this year will be...maybe too warm of weather in the spring caused the team to overheat.

If you look at the roster (especially without a healthy Morneau) we have no power and 4 or 5 # 4 type starters with Franscico Liarano being the maybe exception. We are lucky to win 70 games in 2012. How come Atlanta can always be winning and always have a great farm system ?
