The deal that sent Johan Santana to the Mets will sting less for the Twins if relief pitcher Deolis Guerra emerges.

What? Mets rushed him? Gee. Can you do that? I mean, all the fans here do is gripe that the Twins advance players too slowly.

There is no way to make this "Sow's Ear" of A Trade Into a Silk Purse... Why Is It that Minnesota Pro Teams Always seem to End Up "Just Dumping" Superstars into the market place without ever getting Full Value from them....Garnett,Santana etc. etc....

Could be the worst trade in Minnesota history. Should have traded him to the Red Sox when they were offering really good prospects. They basically gave Santana up for nothing. Mets haven't got much in return though from Santana.

After the year they had last year, this is what our great hope is for this season and all that there is to write home about?

I think Twins fans remember the Santana who won CY Young ... but even without a return on the trade- Santana has had his issues since he left here. So, think of last season- high dollars in Morneau and Mauer on the shelf not playing. If they had Santana on the payroll too? Well, there'd not have been enough money left for a bat boy!

The Santana trade should go down as one of the Best moves in Twins history! The winner of a trade is measured by which team would do it again and the Mets would do anything to get a "do over" in this situation. Santana has won 24 games and been paid $63 million over the last 3 years, thats about $2.6 million per win. Worse yet, the Mets are on the hook for another $55 million guaranteed over the next two seasons and there is no guarantee Santana will be able to even pitch again.

Guerra is a prime example of why MLB players mean so much more than prospects. If anyone can recall, the one player deemed to be "off limits" (at the time) was Mets minor league outfielder Fernando "F-Mart" Martinez. He was supposed to be the "real deal" and most scouts believed his high-end potential was among the best of any prospect of any MLB team. Look where he is now.
