Mild winter or not, when the carnage of the fish begins in a few weeks of the gill nets and spearing of all species of fish on Mille Lacs lake including the spawning walleyes, northern pike, muskies, large mouth bass, and small mouth bass,it won't matter much how much ice or snow there was for the winter months. And when the dead carcuses show up on some deserted piece of land near the lake, the mainstream news will not be publishing any stories about it.

lol, Pheasants are GONE. This stupid State has gotten rid of 179,000 acres of CRP, why? We need more corn for that wonderful ethanol crap. Iowa got rid of there CRP back in the 90's and you can see the results of there pheasants. Iowa used to have some of the best pheasant hunting around. With the tiling of the swamps which resulted in NO DUCKS, now the pheasants have NOTHING.

The mild winter and the early spring, (At least spring like conditions.) does bode well for Minnesota's wildlife. Our previous winter had the opposite effect, so these mild conditions will have a positive effect in rebuilding wildlife numbers. Thanks Doug Smith for pointing that out here. A little good news never hurts!

Mild winter just means the farmers can get started tiling and plowing under CRP land even earlier as the taxpayers subsidize the destruction of the very wildlife that they pay for with licenses habitat stamps etc. Minnesota is a biological wasteland and the gutless DNR just stands by and watches and wants more money. What a sad joke.
