This brings to mind the article from the Onion: In what CEO Bill Gates called "an unfortunate but necessary step to protect our intellectual property from theft and exploitation by competitors," the Microsoft Corporation patented the numbers one and zero Monday. The Supreme Court has got it right.

I hope this holds as a precedent for patient care for at least as long as it takes these firms to "tweak natural law" in order to patent it.
