This is what it's come to for the Twins? There are "questions about his arm and range" and he's hitting .214 - and this makes him a bright prospect? We are in for a very long stretch of mediocre seasons...

This is what its come to for Twins fans posting here? They judge him on 15 at bats in spring training rather than 3 seasons of minor league ball. He's a bright prospect because he has improved on his defense and his hitting in the minors wasn't just solid. It was very good. Yes aphlol, I do think a .318 average in AA along with an .888 OPS would get him an invite to the Yankees training camp. I have no ideae if it will translate to the majors but neither do you.

Yeah, those 60 some games Punto was available would have been an improvement, but the Twins still would have played the majority of the season with Plouffe, Yoshi, etc, etc, etc. Not sure that even LNP's presence in the lineup would have helped win more than 6 more games than they did last year. IMO, I really don't see that as a HUGE improvement.

PUNTO a improvemaent ya if you want a guy flaling at pitches and looking way overmatched how punto has stayed in the majors this long amazes me BOSTON is already worried about there SS position and the season hasnt even started.

Punto gives you good defense and when he isn't overswinging he gives you decent OBP. Twins did not have either of those at shortstop last year. I do not know what the difference would have been in games won. 6 games better at any postition IS huge. That is in the Mauer over Butera range. I don't believe that Punto would have had that effect but who knows. Too much goes into adding a win. Lets just say the shortstop play would probably have been better and that Punto would have gotten on base at a better clip than Nishioka and Plouffe. Probably wins a few extra games and makes a few closer. Does that turn a season like 2011 around? Of course not. I am counting on improvement at allmost every position in order to turn the results around. I don't even think that is being overly optimistic considering the 2011 performance.
