Quiet day for Vikings not exactly a surprise

The major rebuilding job going on at Winter Park is not likely to include the signing of any big-name free agents.

Starting to question whether the Vikings will win a game next season. 0-16 is a serious reality. I feel for Percy. This is gonna be ugly.

Guess I need to understand how a Manningham or Doucet are an upgrade over what he currently have. I would argue that they would be mild improvements at best. Not sure I would waste any money on minor improvements. Better just to save it at this point.

Guess the Vikes are using the extra cash for their new stadium...NO free agents for you!

OL Nicks of Saints, DB Carr of Chiefs and WR Meacham would've all been great additions as they are young and would fit the rebuilding process perfectly. Nicks might have cost a good share but the other two could've been had at a reasonable price. If Speilman plans to build with the draft then I guess that's a signal that we can prepare for drafting quite low for quite sometime. Current Vikings mgmt. hasn't proven they can find a legitimate player beyond the 2nd round of the draft. This is terribly disappointing to not try and get a few free agents. As for Doucet and others like him.....save your money Vikes, you already of a roster full of journeymen and warm bodies.

Why would they cut players for salary cap space if there not going to sign anybody? the vikings act like there not even trying. Alot of players have signed else where common vikes do something.

I'm all for building a younger team. A big part of that is drafting players. The problem I see is we have some very talented players on this team in Peterson, Harvin, Allen, Rudolph, and Webb to name a few. If we had a good O-line and some targets possibly Ponder could be thrown in the mix. Fast forward 3 or 4 years down the road. How old will Allen be? Will Harvin be less effective? Peterson will probably be just an "above" average back by then. By the time the Vikings draft enough "quality" player to fill ALL of their needs, there will be some rather big shoes that will need to be filled because the playmakers they have now will be that much older. To build strictly via the draft involves a ton of luck. It can be done, but face it, luck has never really been in the Vikings cards. Some of the holes NEED to be filled via free agency or the Vikings will be trapped at the bottom for years to come.

"This also is a marathon. Not a sprint. So we probably should wait to judge the Vikings at the end of the offseason and not three hours into it.".........Bears will sign Mario Williams, sign a great backup QB and trade for B. Marshall....that's how it's done, maybe Chicago will let Speilman visit them. I know you can't build a team with free agency but with the Vikings drafts of the past 6 years, it will take a long long time. Weiderer say's it's not a sprint but the Vikings sprinted from NFC Championship game in 2009 to worst in division in 2010 and 2011. Third tier free agents do us no good as we have an entire roster of those type of players.

The bears will not get Williams. Their cap won't allow it.

Again, we don't need BIG name free agents, just playmakers. Bottom-middle and bottom rung "bargain" FA's do nothing to help this team over what it has now. Even just one decent name being picked up helps spread some positivity over the fanbase. If AP doesn't come back as strong as he was like he thinks he's going to, just how the hell do you plan to sell tickets this summer? Jared Allen's sack-to-calf-rope-show can only carry you so far. Spielman's strategy sounds a LOT like a certain Matt Millen, and we all know how that went.

Makes you wonder how the Skins can sign the free agents they have when they didn't have any cap room. Perhaps our Mr. Brezinski isn't as sharp as we've been told. Speilman and Studwell haven't really did anything with the draft in the past 5-6 yrs as members of the "Triangle of Failure"
