He's sitting at home laughing his *** off that he's getting paid $7 million a year to relax.

Shut him down and only let him go to play for Finland if he gets Granlund to sign on the dotted line. And even then, he shouldn't play.

It seems like in an alternate world Mikko is a 63 year old man with a big sign in his yard saying leave me the bleep alone. Is he always crabby?

washburnlkMar. 13, 12 9:50 AM

@Florida, I don't know if it's crabby or just typical stoic Finn, either way you have been consistently correct in your assessment of his inability to wear the C. The idea that he's "needed" to get Granlund to sign is, if true, just another indication that he holds way too much sway in personnel decisions. The best thing for the team would be for him to sit and help them get a higher draft choice.

Koivu could have gone UFA and been playing anywhere he wanted for more money with a better chance at the Cup. He chose to stay here, participate in the building process, lead under very difficult circumstances and become a part of this community. He doesn't play hockey for the money although it is nice to have. He plays for love of the game and the challenge of overcoming tough obstacles. There is nobody on the face of the earth that I would want in my foxhole more than Mikko Koivu.

Actually I dont have a problem with MK currently wearing the C . There are not many better alternatives on this current roster. The problem I have is production vs his paycheck. He was anointed the future Captain and 1st Line Center 7 years ago and in my opinion did not do much to earn it. The bottom line is if you want things to stay the same (I.E. winnging a total of 3 playoff games in the last 7 years) then keep things the same. But if Wild want things to change they may have to look into making some changes. I am optimistic that three prospects Zucker, Granlund and Larrson were all Captains of their respective WJC teams. Maybe once they get settled and comfortable in the NHL they can provide some leadership.

Stone - that. right there. Mikko could be making a whole lot more money and have a real chance at the cup right now. but he CHOSE to stay with a team that was obviously going to be rebuilding for a few years. I like him with the C. he may not be the media go to guy, but that's a Finn thing i think. Backs is pretty quiet, so is Teemu, Annti, Saku ect. He obviously brings something to the room that we as fans don't always see. you can feel his lack of presence on the ice. they simply play more confident when he is in the line up. And again, if someone wants to say he shouldn't be Kaptain because of his lack of to Luongo. there is more to the 'C' then goals. i think a lot of teams have that wrong these days.

Everyone on this team should consider themself replaceable. If not this team needs new management at this point.

cwinner76Mar. 13, 1211:33 AM

People need to stop worrying about Granlund. He's going to sign. He can't sign until he's done playing hockey which won't be until May, so relax.
