Carlos Gutierrez knows he must be consistent day in and day out if he is to get a look in the Twins bullpen.

If the Twins want to improve pitching the first thing they must do is get a legit pitching coach. Anderson is in way over his head. He has the job cuz he's Gardy's best friend. Move him to scouting or something but get a real pitching coach.

Gutierrez throws way too hard to be a Twins pitcher. That doesn't fit the Gardenhire/Anderson "let them hit it and hope" philosophy of pitching.

I really hope for the sake of the team, they lose this guy fast. Sadly Gutierrez truly thinks he's doing okay. In reality, his best is less than mediocre.

Everyone would like the Twins to go out and buy a power arm. Unfortunately the power arms are not that many power arms to be had and every team wants them. The vast majority of pitchers are what I refer to as finesse pitchers. They will seldom power their way through a line-up and will instead be like Brad Radtke, using smart pitches to get them to ground or pop out. Both power and finesse accomplish the same goal provided the players on the field know how to play good defense, something the Twins used to be great at, but has been lacking for the past couple of years. I would like them to get a good power arm or two, but realistically I just want good pitchers who can throw strikes consistently and have at least three pitches to throw.

Gutierrez looks like a good, young pitcher to me. His chances of making the Twins right out of ST are next to nil because he has options left. I'd expect to see Gutierrez called-up sooner-rather-than-later though. Especially if Detroit starts out like a ball-of-fire and begins to run away with the division. Gutierrez has promise. He should be a part of the Twins' future in our rebuilding process.

He won't make it out of ST because by his own admission he doesn't have enough of a mix of pitches that he can throw for strikes, which has been one of the main issues the whole time. Nothing has changed.

BREYNOLDS80 says,"I really hope for the sake of the team, they lose this guy fast. Sadly Gutierrez truly thinks he's doing okay. In reality, his best is less than mediocre."----Spoken like a true Gardy/Andy disciple. FJBARROWS has it right, Guiterrez throws too hard, he isn't pitch to contact. All the other TWINS relievers are so wonderful and consistent there couldn't possibly be room for a hard thrower.

I watched GUTIERREZ pitch in the college world series and he was really good i am surprised it has taken him so long to get to the TWINS.

Consistency, Mr.Anderson? Ohhhh you mean you want him to consistantly throw it over the heart of the plate. Gotcha. The Twins way.

Umm, he's been in the minors for 4 years and is just now thinking he needs another pitch....? Is this a coaching problem?
