In Rubio, franchise loses its go-to link to its fans

  • Article by: PATRICK REUSSE , Star Tribune

What Rubio had done to create interest and change the demographic for the Timberwolves in four months was remindful of what Kirby Puckett did for the Twins a quarter-century earlier.

you can have pro basketball.i would rather watch the college game where the kids go all out to win and not stand waiting to collect their paycheck.

The Puckett comparison might be a bit much this early into Rubio's career but I'll say this: I didn't realize how much I appreciate Rubio until these last 24 hours.

Rubio is a special talent and will be missed. Hopefully they can stay in contention for the playoffs. Malcolm Lee has to step up and help Ridnour and Barea to fill the void.

It was those stupid Muskie uniforms. They've been trouble all season. Burn them. I never want to see a Muskie uniform again.

Puckett, Morneau, Peterson, Mbakwe, Rubio. This is the story of Mn sports for the decade, or maybe it better represents the culmination of Minnesota sports for the past 50 years.

from barcelona, spain with the terrible news of a season ending injury for Ricky, it's time to just say thank you to the Twolves, the great state of Minnesota and especially the fans! Ricky has had a wonderful first season enjoying everything you fans brought him! We know Ricky Business for a long time in Spain, check in youtube "2006 U16 European Championship final - España-Rusia (Ricky Rubio: 51pts 24reb 12ast 7steals) it's a terrible loss for the spanish olympic squad who was going for gold in the olympics this summer. sad. Ricky has more charisma than the 2 gasols combined and all the entire spanish squad. Let's hope for a speedy and full recovery. he'll comeback stronger for the twolves for sure.Ricky is pure talent, a class apart. But in the end, just let me say, thank you to the state of Minnesota and the fans because Ricky now loves and enjoy to be an adopted son of your great state.

I agree with above posters... those Muskie uniforms are terrible! Whoever said its ok for the Wolves to wear those, should be fired today. Kirby and Rubio also don't belong in the same sentence, not sure how Pat connected those two, but regardless, there's no reason to pay attention to this team anymore this season, they proved that by losing to the Hornets.

Patrick, Now that story is the reason that I usually like to read your article. The story was insightful and spot on about the Wolves becoming relevant again. Keep writing stories like this. This is the kind of story you write that I enjoy reading. Do away with the negative B.S. and write stories like this all time. Some of your best writing in the last 3 years. LeSueur Country Club.
