Nice of you to be 5 years late. Kony is no longer even in Uganda. Childwarriors is just a scam looking for more money at this point.

Neither side is right in this war against the people. Even if he did start out fighting against the 'bad government'. He found out what power was and loved it. It happens far too much in this world.

That we are having this conversation means success for the makers of the video. They got the entire world talking about atrocities in Africa overnight, which was the goal, and will undoubtedly lead to more donations and exposure for all NGOs working on these important issues.

Two points. One is that we in this country have little notion of our own history, much less that of other countries. Thus we blithely jump into stuff we know noting about. A good example is in the former Yugoslavia, where the stupid media branded one side as the aggressor, and our government went along with it. If we knew anything about history we would have known that the so-called aggressors had been nearly wiped-out by the so-called victims back in WWII, when those "victims" sided with the Nazis. Two, the younger generation especially, has become far too infatuated with social media, and grossly overestimates it power. Topple a Dictator? Yeah, there's an App for that ... it's called an AK-47.

It all makes me think westerners should never put military anyone on the African continent and NGOs should focus only on western issues we understand and live in. Africa is complicated and any attempt to do good normally backfires and leaves the world hating america more. Same goes for the middle east. Balkans. central asia. Let's just go home and make america awesome and let the rest of the world sort out their problems. If we need to leave our borders, maybe the drug cartels in Mexico, where we are deeply involved as the lead consumers, would be a logical place. The rest is all just meddling in affairs we have no business messing around in.
