As the team retools from a tough 3-13 season, older players -- even longtime contributors -- could leave.

Thanks for the um...update? We already knew all of this about the Vikings. And, they should go ahead and release each one of those guys, unless they take a drastic pay cut. None of those guys, especially coming off injury, is going to be the difference maker for this coming season. The Vikings have about a 2-3 year plan to get back into contention in the division. Rudolph takes over for Shiancoe. After the Vikings draft Kalil somebody else will take over for Hutch. Winfield is a tough loss, but he has to be healthy. EJ and Griff are clearly past their prime after injuries, so filling their shoes won't be difficult. Thanks guys, but we're moving on.

I couldn't agree more but, I'll add a few more names to that list. The Vikings need to let go of... Tyrelle Johnson, EJ Henderson, Steve Hutchinson, Antoine Winfield, Cedric Griffen, Chris Cook, Visanthe Shaincoe, Charlie Johnson, Asher Allen and all the receivers on the roster not named Percy Harvin, if they want to keep any other WR put 'em on the practice squad until they prove themselves. Now, to fill the holes. Draft Matt Kalil #3 (replaces Charlie Johnson), Stephen Hill #35 (replaces any receiver), Vontaze Burfict #67 (replaces EJ Henderson, he'll fall due to questions) Trumaine Johnson #99(replaces Asher Allen, easily). In free agency we only need to take 2 key free agents to fill vacant holes... Carl Nicks (replaces Steve Hutchinson) the line is now younger and a whole lot better, Brandon Carr (replaces Antoine Winfield) with him and Trumaine we are younger and better for the rebuild. I would also take LaRon Landry, I know, that's more than two but, I think coming off the achilles injury that he really didnt repair, he's worth taking a shot on and since the Redskins have basically said they're not going to resign him that will scare off a lot of other teams, they paid Fat Albert for Godsake. The Vikings just need to take a flyer on a guy like him not that he has character issue like Vick did but, that he's gonna need a chance coming off injury.

All the free agency pick ups I mentioned are easily achieved when you let go of all the players mentioned. The cuts plus the already 10 mil will provide more than enough space to get them all and possibly even more like...(lesser known or not top of this years heap) Laurent Robinson WR, Pierre Garcon WR, Joel Dressen TE, Chris Kemoeatu OG, Max Starks OT, Mike Brisiel OG, Jason Allen CB, Gibril Wilson S. All these would be viable options to look at to fill the holes once the aforementioned free agents are aquired.

Is there someone else by the name of Antoine Winfield that's a great cover corner and we somehow got him confused with our cornerback, Antoine Winfield, who is just a great tackler, Sid?

FIRE RICK SPIELMAN!!!!! He is the reason the Vikings finished last 2 years in a row, and will now have to get rid of quality players because he mismanaged the personnel. The Vikings are going to be just like the Twins, but at least the owner of the Twins was smart enough to remove the GM responsible for the mess. Zygmund is just plain clueless.

I'll be shocked if the Vikings sign Carl Nicks. I'm guessing Kalil will be the draft choice, and Charlie Johnson will move to Guard to replace Hutch. If Hutch stays, then Johnson might move to right guard. I haven't heard anything about the Vikings targeting an offensive lineman in free agency. From what I hear, the Vikings will be looking to spend their money on free agent wide receiver(s) first, then a cornerback. We'll hopefully find out early on Tuesday. I definitely see the Vikings going big name on WR right away. Draft Kalil with #1, and then another WR or CB #2 (35th overall).
