COULD NOT AGREE MORE about the officials of the NFC championship game. If they had stepped in and kept penalizing the Saints or thrown a player out and warned the Saints bench, they may have gotten the hint.

I'm wondering what took so long for the complaining to start. The game was fixed, and there wasn't enough outrage about it.

There is plenty enough blame to go around from that game for everyone to get their fair share.

i agree with coach grant, but is also missing the part that the bounty was for getting favre out of the game. that is where the aint's are at fault.

Anybody that is just not seeing how fixed the NFL is has just started to become a fan. packer fans actually think they won games rather then the refs handing them the "W" like they did for the aints!!

I watched about every game Bud Grant coached. I never ever saw him whipping his defense into a frenzy and promoting intentional injury to an opponent and I'm pretty sure he didn't have a hit list on a chalkboard with money amounts next to the player's name for those injuries. That is where the Saints crossed the line. The NFL needs to hand out the most severe punishments they can so the civil suits can be limited somehow and do not affect the integrity of the game any worse.

They should take away their victories in the NFC championship and the Super Bowl. The bounty was a far more serious transgression than the T-wolves courting of what's his face. Stern almost gave the death penalty to the Wolves for a minor infraction. The Wolves are now just pulling themselves up from the punishment. The NFL should come down very hard on this act.

I have posted on numerous sports sites the exact points that Grant makes and none of the experts (Peter King, M.Florio, ESPN, SI, Fox Sports, etc. etc.)have acknowledged or written about it. Every single person from coast to coast who watched the 2009 NFC Championship game between the Vikes and Saints saw the numerous illegal hits etc. but yet the people closed to the action, the officials, turned a blind eye to it. These officials need to be investigated because it was far too obvious that they were letting the Saints get away with murder throughout the entire game. The head referree, Peter Morelli, has a history of terribl officiating, even calling a good game wining field goal in a Browns game as "no good". There is no room for bountygate but how does any game get to the degree that the saints/vikings game did without the officials being involved.

Bud Grant nailed it! The refs are on the field to watch that the game is being played fairly. They chose to ignore what was going on. End of story. Are their Vikings fans that want a trophy for that game? If, And, But, enough! Vikings had the game in hand and lost it. Good Night Now!
