Jamey Carroll is the latest Twins player to fill in at shortstop, a position that has been unsettled for years.

We had a great short stop in Bartlett. He was great on defense and could hit 310 late in the season but we traded him for Harris? Where the hell is Harris now?

Bemmel, you can make a case fo Bartlett, but Hardy was even better. When the Twins let him walk for a relatively low offer was the day I decided tovstop caring and to cancel plans for tickets. I have not been to a gamevsince. And don't plan ton until I see that the owners want to be anything but average.

Looks like the Twins are taking their cues from the Vikings and went got the oldest player could to fill a need at a position that needs to be solidified. I agree with fwallen, I haven't cared to watch a game from either franchise in the last couple of years, neither team wants to field a championship team. Band-aids for years don't replace offering YOUR quality players a good contract.

Carroll??? really this is all we can come up with? This team has really gone south these last two years. There is no way we can compete with Detroit for the top of the central this year.

That's a total joke, JJ Hardy was decent and went on to have a banner season for the Orioles last year. What is this, the ghost of Carl Pohlad refusing to dish out some cash for a competitive team? And while we're at it, why did they let Cuddyer go? Teams like the Tigers are building up and the Twins are tearing down! Makes no sense!

Interesting in Gardy saying he was not in favor of the Bartlett trade. Gardy was always on Bartlett case and I thought he was the one that wanted the trade. Bartlett and Garsa for Young is one of the Twins worse trade ever.

Simple answer - NO. There is a reason Terry Ryan has not been a GM for a period of time, just like there is a reason the Pohlads are called cheap.

Contrary to some of you, I think Ryan is a smart baseball man in the line of Billy Beane. You don't need top stars to win big. You need steady talent that can put up the runs and still play defense. Keeping Cuddyer, Nathan, and Kubel would not have bought them a good season. They needed the picks to obtain young talent for the future. Look for a new good Twins team in roughly two years. In the mean time, just enjoy the game for the game. I love my Twins and plan to attend ten to twelve games.

Go fishing - better yet, send the Twins to Omaha, retrofit the stadium and let the Vikings have the place.

I don't know we had Bartlett and Punto if you are primarily looking for defense at that position??? I think they started looking else where because they wanted better at bats? Strange web we weave..
