I haven't used it in awhile but I hope the venison donation program does not come to an end. During the three hardest years for the family financially we were able to get some the one year that we didn't harvest any deer and it was a godsend.

People that hunt illegally or unethically should be punished severely. No more hand slapping. "First-time offenders" probably just never got caught before.

Newsflash for Hackbarth - poaching is illegal. "I don't want to make people criminals". What's that about? If people are breaking the law, they are criminals and obviously the penalty needs to be more of a deterrent. Why do we continue to allow legislators that don't know the first thing about managing natural resources call the shots? $15 so I can walk-in on private property? Heck of a deal! Any hunter would be willing to pay that. If not, don't go. It's guys like Hackbarth that will drive this state into the toilet. Remember this come November!

gp13581 Everything you said and more. At a time when hunting is bad mouthed by so many, opportunity is provided for all to take it serious, or else. Wildlife is/are for all to enjoy, and if taken illegally, the punishment should be hefty, because poachers are "criminals". Keep the wolf fine at $2000, and give $1000 of it to the person who helps nab the poacher

drop 1 kernel of corn and you are a criminal plant acres of food plot to attract deer and you are a hero I fail to see the difference between the two

Sounds like a pretty good game & fish bill.

I agree with verdepato; Food plots are no less unsporting than bait.

In MN it is illegal to bait deer but not illegal to bait hunting dogs to die in body grip traps using grouse parts. SF 2265 will allow the use on the ground where our dogs can reach them of the largest body grip traps (330's) baited with meat. The bill was only introduced late last week but jumped up in line and will be heard tomorrow.
