Any voter id credentials has the dems shaking in their boots. Heaven help us if Minnesota has legitimate election procedures.

Let me get this right?!? The Republicans in the Minnesota state Senate want the public to vote in a constitutional amendment to take away some people's right to access to vote - and then they want the public to wait until next year to let them make up the rules?

Absurd. A pig in a poke. Vote yes to exactly what? These folks are not serious. This is yet another phony election year wedge issue by the GOP. This is EXACTLY why a constitutional amendment is not the solution to a problem like this.

It is laughable to think we should amend our constitution to give a future legislature a blank check to make the rules. What is the matter with Sen.Newman and his fellow travelers? Don't they have the courage to stand up and tell us their plans?

Regardless of how you feel about the Voter ID issue, this is no way to make Amendments and laws. Write the law first, and then let us vote on it after we have the details, please. Better yet, let's have our elected representatives figure out a law that both sides can live with and pass it--you know, do their job.

Talk about a pig in a poke. Does Newman REALLY expect us to vote for a constitutional amendment when he won't tell us (and probably doesn't know himself) how it will be implemented?

liberals will like this way of passing a bill. it is right out of Nancy Pelosi's book titled, "we'll have to pass the bill to see what's in it."

If Republicans are going to propose things like this, they should at least think through the particulars of their proposal. This is just irresponsible law making driven by partisan interests. All the more reason to vote people like Newman out of office in November.

There is no verifiable evidence of voter fraud. Over & over, this has proven extremely rare in every study/investigation done. Bush spent millions trying too root out voter fraud & came up with nothing at all. This legislation is entirely and only about suppressing Dem votes as it only affects demographics that largely vote Dem. It's disingenuous and false to assert that photo ID is about "vote integrity" and everyone knows this. Making it more difficult, and in some cases impossible, to vote is the Rethuglican intent. They will do anything to rig the vote in their favor and it's nothing short of disgusting. 2012 cannot come soon enough.

How will we know if the vote on voter id's will be valid, if the votes are cast without id's?
