I met Frank only once - in the early 1970's. I was a 7th grader playing tennis in the court next to him in Maplewood. We recognized him because we were major Fighting Saints fans. He was nice enough to give us his autograph which I still have today. It was only recently I learned that this genuinely nice guy had become a preacher of the gospel. Today God has brought home one of his nice guys.

He and Sarner were, just as sarner mentioned, amazing to watch when they really turned it up. Inspirational to watch them play as a youth - I'm sure the same inspiration transcended into the ministry. RIP

He was a fun guy to watch and was always around the action in the corners and in front of the net. He was always known as a gentleman after the game was over but was as tough as nails when it was on.

I recall a Gopher hockey game when a 5 minute major/game disqualification penalty was given to Bill Butters. At the old Williams Arena site, the access to the locker room was through the visitors bench--which in this case was awaiting Bill Butters to "discuss" the high stick infraction on his way to the Gopher's lockerroom. Butters launched himself into the bench when it was apparent he was going to get pummeled. I counted to "3" and Frank Sanders already had come from the Gopher bench to take on three of the visitors, defending Butters. He was quick and effective, and a gentleman as well. RIP

While Frank was great as a hockey player, he was awesome as a preacher and pastor, loving and caring for people and passionate for God. He touched many lives, some 1000 of them showed up at his homegoing service to pay their respect. He was loved and greatly missed by his family and Spirit of Life Bible Church family.

The lives that he touched was simply incredible. I have never seen so many people at a wake in my life. For four hours there was a line that stretched for more than a block long. More information on Frank can be found at his website at fromsilvertogold.com
