Thanks for a thought-provoking piece, Mr. Tevlin. If readers want more background on this issue, as I did, here is a starting link: http://mcrecord.com/archives/501756/in-spite-of-hensels-tactics-sign-ordinance-needs-revision/.

What does the fact that she's a grandmother and foster mom have to do with this? Is that the sum total of her being?

In America, the law is the law, no matter who you are or what you believe. Congratulations to Mr. Frost for believing that, and acting accordingly. He is clearly a very principled man. Too bad so many do not understand or truly support the bedrock values that underlie our country.

Ms. Hensel's apparent tendency to be more of a "right brain" thinker/operator, compared to Mr. Frost's "lefty-brain!" shouldn't be used to put down her effectiveness or intelligence. While I applaud Mr. Frost's commitment to doing the right thing (with his lefty brain), there is no moral high ground based on brain biology. I'm sure they will each benefit from working with the other. An equally significant issue raised by this story is the potential libel of Ms. Hensel by her local newspaper. If you read Ms. Hensel's Facebook comments (after this article: http://mcrecord.com/archives/501756/in-spite-of-hensels-tactics-sign-ordinance-needs-revision/), a picture is painted of one who was entirely misrepresented by sloppy, or worse, intentional "tabloid" journalism, devoid of facts. And, death threats resulted! One would hope that Mr. Frost is able to assist Ms. Hensel with this, as well.

Thumbs up to each of you; Jon, Larry and Robin. Jon for your interest in writing it. Larry for your service and understanding of the real issue. Robin for your courage to speak out. City Hall bullies are out of control and ignor their oath of office to be impartial as well forget they are elected by more than their friends. They become this way because they are so well insulated, (protected by tax payor dollars) that once elected only their views or those of their friends are important and the ordinary citizen view points mean nothing. Larry thank you, thank you, thank you!

These two understand the meaning of the Constitution better than any politician in Washington.

Good article. Free speech disappears when all are forced to agree. Sounds like an odd pairing at opposite ends of the spectrum who both understand the need for free speech. Those two individuals are part of what makes America so great!
