Meteorological spring begins hopefully, with precipitation taking a healthy swipe at statewide drought that began last summer.

OUTRAGEGOUS road conditions. Where were the plows? I drive from Roseville to Chanhassen and did not see a single truck. I drive down 35W through U of M and downtown Mpls. and the roads were a mess! Someone at MnDOT has some splainin' to do!!!

Good call by the superintendents that called school today. I don't envy you having to make that decision. But the safety of the students comes first.

The roads were a mess, the drivers were 10x worse. Stall in the left lane of 169 at Mtka blvd - sure, just leave it there genious. Metro Transit accordion bus driver using the shoulder (you know, the place the plows leave the stuff they clear off the highway) and jackknifed leaving a lane blocked on 94. Thank you and your multitude of spun out friends for a long, slow and at times, harrowing commute. If you are incapable of travelling safely, please do us all a favor and take a snow day - you shouldn't be on the roads.

Where are the MNDot plows? The city streets I drive on in Burnsville are clean, but the state roads have not been plowed. Why? Perhaps instead of spending money on a Vikings stadium we can get more snow plows, no? I don't mind paying taxes if the state services are good.

All the roads are a parking lot and people are many hours late driving by car. But, the light rail is precisely on time- not missing a beat. Please tell me again how light rail is a big waste of money. Yes, we need more and more autos until traffic is snarled all day long. When you are stopped in your car just keep repeating how alternate transportation is a waste.

lowerhay and wwfsmd337 I agree. I dont envy anyone having to drive any distance to work in these conditions. I live in NE Mpls, work in downtown and live about a mile away from work so I just walked. Temp wise it's pleasant out, not too cold, actually felt pretty good. And wwfsmd337, I agree, making sure all the roads are plowed during a snow storm should be a priority over building the Vikings a stadium. A play pen for a billionaire or better roads so people can get safely to and from work. It's an obvious answer to me.

Where were the plows during the night? I drive State Highway 95 and it had NOT been plowed since I don't know when. There was one cut path of a track running East, nothing running West. Even in a 4-wheel drive pickup I could only do 30 MPH. For so much notice about the storm, it seemed like everyone was sleeping at the plow. I supervise snow removal ops at my job, and we had clear roads at our business.

I have never heard Duluth referred to as the Zenith City before - you learn something new every day!

"St. Paul declares snow emergency; Mpls. won't" - I live in Minneapolis, and good, they don't need to call for a snow emergency, it will melt within a couple of weeks. Save you money, you have a bike bridge to fix.
