My dislike for Koivu is growing day by day. He hasn't shown he has what it takes to be a captain, He's still not producing like we'd hoped he would, and now he's turning all soft on us. I'm almost ready to join the "trade Koivu" bandwagon.

The season is over relative to the playoffs. So they sould leave MK rest & heal and play the newly traded players and some call ups to build for next year. The 4 goal shutout to the Kings tonight pretty much sealed the deal. With all the new faces, we likely won't see a lot of success for several more game, but then we should expect to see some team growth giving us hope for the future. Still love my Wild!!!!!!

This guy has become the Wild's version of Joe Mauer. No question, the most overrated and overpaid player in the NHL. The Wild will only truly move forward when they get rid of every last player from the Jacques Lemaire era. Watching Kopitar tonight...man, it made me realize how inconsequential Mikko Koivu actually is. How can Cal Clutterbuck play the way he does and rarely get hurt and a guy four inches taller than him and 30 pounds heavier that plays half as physical can't ever play a full season??? No matter how many young guns this team brings in here, this team will NEVER win a Stanley Cup with Mikko Koivu as its captain and/or first line center. Never.

Was this injury related to his constant patting motion to his back?

wow bobo, i don't think you actually know much. Koivu is an amazing player, its not always just about piling up points. That is why we got Heatley, Setoguchi and hopefully a star like Parise this summer. Yea he has been hurt lately but a injury doesn't mean they shouldn't be captain. As far as overrated? Try underrated by most fans outside Minnesota and he would be making the same amount with any other team right now.

Who cares. He hasn't been missed. They still put up losses, with or without him. They don't miraculously turn into an A team when he hits the ice. Haven't seen it happen yet and doubt it ever will. Takes more than ONE "good but not great" player to make a team special.

Russo has stated repeatedlyy that 29 other teams would line up to aquire Mikko, let's hope he's right. Parise's the biggest fish available in FA, I doubt he'd sign here, but if Koivu has as much value as thought I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the block, if he'd wave the no trade. I've been a big critic of Fletcher this year, but I think by shipping Schultz he sent the message that this team actually will change this off season.

You know, strib1991, last time I checked hockey is a TEAM sport. A captain can only lead and set an example in his play for the TEAM. I don't recall any of the GREAT captains in history playing on a team of marginally talented players.

Take the "C" from him and give to someone like Heatly or Cully. They are out there every night busting their butts trying to help this team win.

I am becoming less of a Kouivu apologist everyday. He is always hurt. He disapeared last year at this time as well and with this thin line-up, we have no chance.
