Minnesota exports grew by 7.3% in 2011 to $20.3 billion

Merchandise sales to Mexico, China and Japan led the gains, for the best performance since 2008.

We are slowly seeing more and more headlines like this. The economy is getting stronger, hiring should continue to pick up, home demand will increase and so will prices. Obama will get reelected and uncertainty will diminish and investment will surge. Despite what everyone says I am very optimistic for the next 4 years!

Good news, exports are great. However, I think our focus needs to be on serving the markets of this country fully and completely with American made products. Then, exports will be in the correct place in our priorities.

Exports are the only reason many companies are surviving. There is no demand for product here. The company I work for had 75% domestic sales five years ago. Now with the same sales it is at 50%. Domestic sales down 25%. Not a good sign for our economy.
