Thanks so much for covering this! I wrote a blogpost about Alyssa earlier this winter, and I too teared up reading about her 9.8 seconds. What a tribute to an amazing young woman! http://justforthesportofit.wordpress.com/2012/01/20/sports-hero-from-the-sideline/ MMF

We were at the game and it was a wonderful, wonderful moment. Thanks go to Coach Frost for giving her that opportunity, and best wishes to Alyssa in the future. She is one of the exceptional young women on that team, and is poised to make great things happen in the future.

Beautifully written story, Rachel. Kudos to Brad Frost for giving Alyssa Grogan a last hurrah in uniform on the ice versus North Dakota, a thoughtful and memorable gesture of admiration and respect from coach to player that will always be cherished by Alyssa and her family. Cheers and good luck and happiness, Alyssa, and GO GOPHERS!

Great story. What a special moment for Alyssa and her family, fans, and teammates. I wish Rachel would write more often in the Star Tribune, and Jim Souhan would write his negative rants less frequently.
