It's a sad state of affairs. The lead photo speaks volumes.

The only thing that seems to fit is that they try too hard in the stretch, trying to close out games having leads, holding a lead, etc. A sure sign of over aggressive shooting is putting back offensive rebounds for 2-3 shots within 2 feet of the rim and missing them all, and turnovers in critical times (tunneling the vision). Seen that lately? Aggressively going to the basket when you have the ball is fine, but when you let aggression spill over into your skills, you don't have touch and you don't have team timing. A pitcher throws aggressively and he walks people. Shoot free throws aggressively and you miss. Hit the golf ball aggressively and get out the weed-wacker. The team has shown that have enough talent to stay with the big boys, but in critical times they throw bricks and they make turnovers from players out of timing and position as they push. (I think that's why the extra pass theory works - the extra pass caps the aggression.) R3 got aggression where it counts, and good for him. Rodney needs to just square up and shoot when he's open - an aggressive mindset to take the opportunity but the stroke when shooting. How bad can it be? Worst case is he misses. So what? That's only bad if he doesn't ever set and just throws it at the hoop.... If they stop trying to play harder, screwing things up, and just play together, they might win some yet.

All I care about is demolishing the Badgers anytime and anywhere. The Gophers can lose the rest of the season so long as we beat the stinking, smelling Buck-le-heads from cheeseville. Do it for Paul, y'll.

all i know is this... players have come and gone for the past 2 seasons but tubby is the connecting thread here. and during the past 2 years he has whined that a new practice facility is crucial to recruiting, and that an extention to his contract is crucial to recruiting, etc... you know what is really crucial to recruiting tubby? WINNING. coaches around the country who win have a lot of recruiting success, and their teams are making to the NCAA tournaments. tubby, you couldn't recruit at kentucky and you got out before you were completely exposed. basketball fans here are fools if they believe you will ever produce the kind of teams here that will make the barn THE place to be on game night. its time to make a change and hopefully the first thing on the new AD's list is to bring in a new coach who can recruit, coach, and show his team how to win. the fans of gopher basketball deserve to have a winner and tubby is not going to produce one here.

When you lose a close game, it is coaching.

First it was the outdated practice facility, now the "urban environment", Tubby? Perhaps looking up Minneapolis on a road atlas would've helped when you were offered the job. Just leave. We're tired of the poor coaching and plethora of excuses.

Minnesota's basketball history is just sad, embarassing. A school with the fan support and money that Minnesota has almost has to try and lose to be as bad as their history. Two Big Ten Championships in the last SEVENTY-FIVE years! They haven't won a NCAA game without cheating for TWENTY-TWO years! Tubby hasn't helped but the internal problems with this "program" are so deep and engrained that it's probably beyond repair. Fans definitely deserve better.

It's been 5 years, and Tubby hasn't won one big yet! Time for hime to go away!

clnorthFeb. 28, 12 7:37 AM

Attitude is a reflection of leadership. Tubby needs to look no further than the mirror to find the root of the problem with this team. Please don't wait like you did with Monson. The time is now. Go find a new coach.

The same "urban environment' Tubby is blaming is the same one the U touts to prospective students (I just went on the tour).
