Justin Morneau met with the media on Friday morning and said he intends to go through all the workouts as he tries to distance himself from his concussion issues of the last two seasons. But talking about his health, he said: "There comes a point where you can only torture yourself for so long."

Sounds like mentally he's already decided to retire.

Everything has been pretty good since January, I'd say," Morneau said. "Somewhere in there. I don't know. It’s hard to tell. There’s times where I won't feel that good and wake up the next day and feel fine, just knowing it may have been a little extra fatigue or I did too much that day or whatever it is. I can't really remember the last time that was. So it has been good for awhile. Those sound like the symtoms of life.

Wow I'm gonna miss him and what could have been

I have thouht for a while that he is done...he knows he is done. I just hope managment realizes soon enough and get Parmalee here to stay so we do not see another 99 loss season.

sounds to me like he definately isnt ready for the bigs at this time nor will he be by the end of spring training, either dl him for a minimum of 60 days or leave him in fort myers and then play at rochester, lets not experiment in mpls- get parmalee going - im a morneau fan also, but reality has to take over and these are the facts....

Put a fork in him and hopefully he has a positive attitude to teach our up and coming first basemen a thing or two.

I would have never thought that a former hockey player would be this psychosomatic. The conditions he describes are the conditions EVERYONE has. Its not from a concussion...its from getting older. The Twin's and the doctors clearly babied him way too much and now it is just in his head.

Justin. Best of luck this season. Hope you're past all this tuff and you prove the naysayers wrong.

When you sign a contract for millions of dollars, you suit up and play even if you don't feel good or have a headache.

njc264isbackFeb. 24, 12 9:53 AM

Crud, I was hoping I was wrong, but I knew when I saw him up there during the Twins Town Hall that 1) He didn't look healthy; and 2) you could just tell how measured and unconfident he was in his answers pertaining to his health. Crud, crud, crud!
