Both are offered by Republican legislators: One would help fund a project in Arden Hills, while the other would have the team pay more than 80 percent of the costs.

$459 million + $101 million = the $300 million that Governor Dayton announced as the state cap? Ooh, Math Is Hard!

So basically no firm commitment of funds from Ramsey County and they want the state to kick in $650M. Are they out of their minds?

Heres an even better plan: Have both the Gophers and Vikings play in the dome next season while Zygi uses his 400 million to enlarge TCF to make it suitable for the Vikings. The added benefit of providing the U with a stadium big enough to host the Big Ten championship game and provide them with more revenue to build a practice facility. This would not cost the taxpayers a dime. Minneapolis could then concentrate on renovating the Target Center and eventually the dome for other uses.

Whatever happened to the White Earth offer? The announcement was made and then everything disappeared

The White Earth offer is by far the most realistic plan I have seen to fund this. Maybe the tribal mafia hasd already buried this.

"[It] would not allow the Vikings to be competitive"..........This is the one I don't get. Why do they have to be competitive financially with other teams? They are a monopoly in THIS town and they are making money for their owner. I get that you have to be competitive on the playing field, but why do we have to beat Detroit on the balance sheet? Sounds like someone wants more profit at taxpayers expense.

If there were a $1 tax on stadium proposals, the thing would be paid for by now.

This proposal would make the state portion mainly from voluntary money from those persons playing electronic bingo and pull-tabs. What it does is eliminate mandatory higher taxes statewide, in what ever degree it can supply enough funds.

If people want the stadium, they better settle for Mpls. or it will all fall apart. Ramsey County will not pass a referendum. And the state should kick in more money...get real. Pick the damn site and get on with it or give it up.

I thought the Republicans were the ones always yapping about fiscal responsibility and the immorality of dependence on government. Why don't they tell Zygi to buy his own stadium, wherever he wants it, and quit trying to steal from Minnesotans?
