Well deserved!! This is one of the very few guys that keeps bringing it every night. Not a mega scoring star or puck magician but he does so many of the things needed to be an NHL player.

I think he is the real captain of this team

Great signing, a definite no-brainer.

Good for brodzy..I agree that #21 would be a great captain, plays hard every night and never mails it in..kudos to warren peters for doing something many on this team wont do(save for a few), stick up to backes, a big guy that runs opposing player 4 minutes left and his club is up 4-0. Backes is also chicken$h1t to drop the gloves too..WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED TO NICK SCHULTZ?!? Omg, docs and team staff check him out cuz there is no way anyone can get that bad that fast!! He is painful to watch and even the rookies are outplaying him! Nice job as a team yesterday!

Good signing for a team that needs a center, but not a great signing. This money outs him in the same pay grade as JAson Arnott, Jiri Hudler, Olli Jokinen and Valtteri Filppula, all centers with significantly more upside than Brodziak. Call me gunshy, but after DR paid so much in salaries for this underperforming team, I worry that CF is doing the same thing.

Brodz is 27. Jokinen is 33 years old with a cap hit of 3 mil, his previous contract was 5.25 mil cap hit, not a fair comparison. Arnott 37 years old 2.875 mil cap hit, his previous contract was 4.5 mil cap hit, not a fair comparison. Filppula has a 3 mil cap hit same age as Brodz and has a higher upside, but his current contract was signed as an RFA which makes a huge difference. Just wait to see what Filppula gets in 2013 when he is a UFA. Hudler is playing as a winger and same reasoning as Filppula for why it isn't a fair comparison. Plus to be honest I wouldn't trade Brodz for a Hudler ever. How about we compare it to Joel Ward who has a 3 mil cap hit for a while yet and is 31 and pretty much the same type of player that Brodz is except plays less minutes and isn't a winger. Very good deal for Brodz IMO.

Let's see we can't score goals, so we extend the contract to someone who really doesn't score any goals.

Freeusa, there is more to hockey than just goal scorers.

Brodziak is a third line center and is having a very good year on a team having a very bad year. Now if he could just learn how to score when he is alone vs a goaltender he will be able to earn a lot more.

Good signing Wild. Brodziak seems to be a gamer that plays hard every shift. I like the comments he made regarding working to get better everyday. It seems that there are some players that work their hardest just to get that first large contract then kind of fade away. I do not think that this will be the case with this young man. Looking forward to seeing him continue to grow in the game. Now... How about picking up that Rick Nash fellow.
