The US is a republic. Referenda are a way for politicians to avoid taking a stand on an issue. We elect people to lead, not hide and wait forbthe next election.

I think it might be time to call in the FBI.it seems no matter what he situation, some politicians are begging to give Wilf hundreds of millions of dollars. There are only two viable answers to why (no matter what the situation) they want to hand this money to him: 1) They are being bribed 2) They are not intelligent enough to see the worst deal of their lives and should be impeached. "Follow the money"

Rybak was against public spending for stadiums. Now he is for it. Most know he would like to seek higher office. a lot of money involved. Hmmm

everybody whining about giving money to millionaires and billionaires should stop going to stores, eating at restaurants, going to hotels. aren't you pretty much giving millionaires and billionaires money doing those things? might as well just get it done now since its never going to go away and waiting until next year or the year after the price will just go up.

Good luck getting re-elected Gary Schiff! Another do nothing politician. I called on him once to assist me in cleaning up the panhandler problem in downtown Minneapolis. He did absolutely nothing to help. Now he would like to shrug off his responsibility and call a referendum to do his dirty work on the stadium. You should be ashamed Schiff, you fraud!

jd1982 - That was one of the worst rationals for paying for a stadium and there have been a lot. Do I even need to say why your comment was idiotic? I suppose I better you are a football fan. People CHOOSE to go to stores, restaurants, hotels, etc. Target doesn't show up at my house and say give me your money.

Unless the Vikings get a front office that's capable of assembling a competitive team, the "new" is going to wear off Metrodome 2.0 before it even opens.

What design is being proposed? Roof (another dome)? Open? Retractable?
