I see no problem with codifying what is arguably the most fundamentally important process in our entire system of governance, to remain free of blemish. We have to prove who we are to buy a pack of cigarettes, cash a check, buy an airline ticket, check into a hotel, put license plates on our car, request a birth certificate, obtain a passport, buy a gun, and any number of other things. To NOT require such proof when voting for those who will determine the course of our nation is not only illogical, it is potentially capable of producing situations where the will of the majority is thwarted. And unless that is your goal, then opposition to this amendment makes no sense at all.

Here we go again! No one right is restricted. I understand that for many of you the cost of a FREE ID is something hard to calculate. My right is violated when someone votes illegally. And even if it is only one illegal vote in an election that is one too many.

A story in search of an audience. Voter fraud is a proven problem and is easily witnessed through simple YouTube searches. The DFL/DNC claim is that "it is only just a couple of votes and really doesn't effect the outcome". I say... Horsepucky! I want each and every vote to be valid.

Of course, to find a problem one must look for the problem. Our two large urban cities call themselves "sanctuary" cites, so neither police nor city workers can inquire on citizenship status. Is it any wonder, with no ID voting, why the rest of the state is fearful of legitimate voting results in these urban areas? NBC2 in FLA just found illegal voting even in their recent primary, and the election judges said they weren't equipped to find this fraud. If we really have 12 million illegal immigrants among us, it is national insanity not to validate each and every voter. If they break the law to come into America, rest assured they dont hesitate to vote illegally, as well proved by NBC2 in Fla. The problem is there, it's just that election judges cant or wont look for it.............

If the voter ID measure is a solution looking for a problem, it won't have to look far.

"The secretary of state's office reports that about 215,000 registered Minnesota voters lack a state driver's license or a state ID card or list an address different from that on voter-registration forms"------Really??? Well you have 3 statistics lumped together, I bet the wrong (or falsefied) address account for about 90% of this number? Also no mention of the over 20,000 same day voter verification cards being returned undeliverable? Can you imagine the loss of 20,000 fraud votes?....No wonder the DFL is screaming about this, we would have a different Senator and Governor!

If showing a photo ID would eliminate voter fraud as the supporters claim, then the Republican IN SoS wouldn't have been convicted of committing voter fraud in the last election.

highlife75... Why is it always assumed that the " non existent" fraudulent votes are Democratic when the Republican party has a history of dirty tricks.

At last glance the party of less spending was socking the tax payers for upwards of 20 million dollars to pay for the 'free ID's'. Which, obviously, aren't free.
