In all due respect Don, why do you continue to ignore the fact that most Blu-Ray players internally decode the hi-def codecs such as Dolby HD and DTS Master Audio, and also the fact that many Blu-Ray players have either 5.1 or 7.1 analog audio outputs which can be connect to a receiver with analog inputs. Aside from the convenience aspect of a single HDMI cable, you've incorrectly advised in two columns now that people have to purchase an HDMI receiver in order to maximize the audio experience of a Blu-Ray disc. This is simply not correct, as I've previously stated I'm running a Panasonic DMP-BD85 Blu-Ray player through a Denon AVR-5803 receiver with 7.1 analog inputs. The hi-def audio achieved is identical to that of an HDMI connection I tried on a Denon AVR-4806 receiver. So in these economically challenged times, please don't keep advising people that have to purchase an HDMI receiver to achieve the full audio potential of a Blu-Ray disc, that is not the case at all. I have no disagreement that HDMI is a more convenient connection to switch audio and video together within the receiver, but again, your premise that an HDMI receiver is necessary for full Blu-Ray audio potential is false and misleading to the public.
