Gophers announce one final baseball game at Siebert Field

Gophers baseball coach John Anderson said Thursday that Siebert Field – the team’s outdoor home for four decades – will play host to one final game on May 1 against St. Thomas.

They should have scheduled the game against a team they can beat.

I've got an idea. Why not build a dual purpose baseball stadium on the St. Paul campus and share it with the St. Paul Saints?!? Or, have the U kick in something to use the Saints stadium for their 16 weeks of baseball.

it's too bad gopher football hasn't been as competitive over the years as baseball. gophers will never, ever, ever win a national championship, or make it to the CWS....but they compete with every team in the big ten, and do get into the ncaa playoffs pretty regularly...even beating some great programs. i like the idea of a stadium used by a minor league baseball team in st. paul. minor league baseball is great fun....and very affordable.
