If you don't like the NCAA decision, there is always the NAIA. Save the rest of us you flip-flopping and go there.

I am not a member of the Sioux nation or any Native American tribe. But I have always thought the Fighting Sioux name, logo, and mascot was treated with respect unlike Chief Wahoo in Cleveland. I hope UND is allowed to keep their mascot. But, if they cannot, they better not change their name to "Cougars" as a new high school in Utah used that name and some people complained that it could be offensive to older women. I think the PC thing is going a bit too far!

What a complete joke the Indian mascot outrage by the NCAA is. It is all about money. They let the FSU Seminoles keep their name, because FSU generates tons of money for the good ole boys at the NCAA. UND does not, so therefore ban their use of the Fighting Sioux. Either let the schools decide whether they want to keep their nicknames, or ban them altogether. None of this gamesmanship by the NCAA all in the name of money, not respect for Indian tribes....

I am not Native American. I do think it is in good taste. The university, students, and facilty embrace the pride of the Fighting Sioux nickname. This isn't to put anybody down or inflict pain onto a group of people. It's representative of a traditional culture found in ND.

Good for ND Keep the name. If you don't like it turn the channel.

It’s all about money. The Fighting Sioux is less offensive then the Fighting Irish….

Finally, the leadership of the University of North Dakota has grown a backbone. Enough already with the steady diet of liberal politically-correct nonsense. Go Fighting Sioux!

A state wide vote to display their ignorance - ya way to go No Dak. The tribes are offended by its use, way to honor them by repeated ignorance and dismissal of their beliefs.
