Money wouldn't matter as much if football and men's basketball would actually win some games, but now the new AD needs to come in and dig them out of a huge hole left by Maturi and the former administration.

Whoever Kaler hires--and it must be Kaler's decision--should insist that his job be about fundraising and spending time with donors--and not be spending ANY time with faculty, who will work against him 99% of the time. Further, if the new AD every uses the phrase "managing 25 different programs," he should be fired on the spot.

glenlivet - there's an easy way to prevent a new AD from ever saying that, but the wimps running the place for the past 10 years can't stomach it. We should be playing Men's BB, Men's Hockey and Football, and whatever women's sports are needed to comply with the title IX requirements. Its stupid - STUPID - to continue to have 25 sports, 18 sports or even 10. NCAA sports are not about creating equal opportunities, so stop pretending we are an amateur institution - we are just the worst franchise in the BigTen.

We( Minnesota alumni, students, fans and rubes are being set up. I can see the future pronouncements from the U. The PR machine( there must be a 6 figure VP in charge of PR) will announce Mr Maturi has raised 3 or 4 million dollars in his new job. They won't mention how much has been lost from people like me who are just plain mad and unwilling to send another dollar.

stadium4u, you want to get rid of baseball and wrestling, the two most successful men's sports over the last 10 years? I'm glad you're not in charge!
